reasoning
**Evaluating batch processing options**
I'm thinking about how a persistent one block per batch is natural. Maybe I could launch B*M separately, but there’s launch overhead to consider. CUDA Dynamic won't work for me, though. I wonder if I could use a warp per batch — for 1,024 elements with 32 threads, B=4 gives me 128 threads, maybe even fewer. I need to compile and know the exact requirements for the file. Writing inline C++ with a host wrapper seems like a solid plan!

**Evaluating thread usage**
I’m considering how to optimize my approach to thread usage. It seems that for N, I might want to block fewer than 32 threads. But then, should I also consider using at least 32 threads for power? I'm uncertain about the best balance here. I want to ensure I'm making the most efficient use of threads while also maintaining performance. It's a bit tricky; I need to analyze this further!

**Evaluating computational sharing**
I'm thinking about the code snippet that involves sharing a center variable as an array. It’s dynamic, right? Maybe only initialized when the thread ID matches the farthest value. I need to ensure I use __syncthreads() to synchronize all threads after computations. I also see a case where the thread ID matches farthest, setting mind to -1. It sounds like this avoids race conditions since the same thread is handling it. I’ll consider this carefully!

**Considering compilation options**
I have v5 correct and profiled, so I need to finalize it, perhaps by trying a 512 fixed compile to see if that improves performance. I've been cautioned about our limited turns, as we only have 3 left. I might submit v5, but maybe I can compile 512 quickly in this turn. After running the correctness for 512 fixed, I can compare the results to see if it’s faster, potentially needing less unrolling and more warps.

-> 179% stalls: shared memory / L1 / MIO dependency. Check smem layout for bank conflicts, double-buffer, or async copies.
-> Global load coalescing=12.0x (ideal=1.0) -> 12x wasted DRAM BW. Make per-warp accesses contiguous.
-> Low occupancy (25%). Consider __launch_bounds__ or reducing register pressure.
-> Low eligible warps + low BW% + low compute% = LATENCY-BOUND. Need more parallelism (larger grid, more ILP, prefetching).
-> Compute-bound but NOT using tensor cores. If applicable, use FP16/BF16 with torch.matmul or WMMA intrinsics.
